The German visitors from Westfalen and the Verl area of Germany, dined at the Topp Chalet shortly after their arrival in Delphos. Participants of the USA trip from Germany to Delphos include German guests: Christian Sielhorst, Franz Berenbinker, Klaus and Michael Brandner, Maria Anna Fujara-Ehrhardt, Hubert and Ingeborg Henkenjohann, Klaus and Jutta Hoersting, Balduin and Maria Hollenhorst, Gabriele Kammertoens, Karl and Maria Klima, Bernhard and Christa Klotz, Alfred and Donata Meermeier, and Kai Steffen Schlink of Verl; Josef Lakaemper, Frithjof and Christine Meissner and Christian Meissner, and Lore Meissner of Verl-Kaunitz; Prof. Dr. Alois Hartkaemper of Osnabruck; and Hermann Wrasmann of Belm. Two German newspapers sent reporters to cover the Friendship Link between Delphos and Verl. Joining the group in Delphos were Matthias Kleemann of Rietberg, which is near Verl, editor of the Westfalen-Blatt German newspaper and Hans Wilke of Verl, reporting for the newspaper "Die Glocke," published in Guetersloh, near Verl. Wilke is also a ham radio operator of the Verl Amateur Radio Club.
During their visit in Delphos, the German group toured the Delphos Canal Commission Museum, the Delphos Postal Museum, St. John the Evangelist Church, St. John Schools, the Hempfling Dairy Farm, Kill Brothers Manufacturing Company and other places of interest. They also toured the Immaculate Conception Church and Ottoville. Ottoville was also founded by the Rev. John Otto Bredeick who founded Delphos.
